Join Beyond the Front Porch as we tour the National Center for Civil & Human Rights in Atlanta, GA. This museum is dedicated to the achievements of both the civil rights movement in the United States and the broader worldwide human rights movement. This first of three phase 35,000 sq ft facility opened to the public on June 23, 2014. This activity, transportation and lunch is FREE for students on free/reduced lunch and $25 for all others.

Join Beyond the Front Porch as we take a step back in time as we enjoy a four hour railway excursion along the beautiful Toccoa River from Blue Ridge to McCaysville. The rail adventure is a two hour 26 mile round trip, with a two hour layover to have lunch and explore the state line attractions of Georgia and Tennessee.. River Journey fascinates visitors with river otters, turtles, alligators, giant catfish and thousands of freshwater wonders. Ocean Journey delights guests with penguins, sharks, butterflies and often scuba divers who interact with guests. Join Beyond the Front Porch as our students explore a 120,000 square foot museum located in Cartersville, Georgia, where guests are invited to See America’s Story through contemporary Western artwork, a Presidential Gallery, Civil War art gallery, and Sagebrush Ranch, an interactive children’s gallery. This Smithsonian Affiliate Institution has been open since August 2003, Booth Museum is the only museum of its kind in the Southeast and is the second largest art museum in the state of Georgia. Join Beyond the Front Porch for a day in the sun tubing on a 2 hour trip on the Chattahoochee River through the scenic Alpine Village of Helen, GA. Helen Ga Tubing provides your tube, US Coast Guard approved life preserver, and shuttle service. Join Beyond the Front Porch as we tour a series of underground geologic caves with a sound, light and water show located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Childersburg, AL. For an additional cost students can participate in amusement park attractions including the Lost Trail Maze, gemstone panning, wall climbing and more. Aug 10 all-day Beyond the Front Porch
Join Beyond the Front Porch as we embark on a daylong adventure designed to introduce visitors to the dramatic history of space exploration, from early spaceflight to the shuttle program and beyond! We will visit the Museum, Shuttle Park, and Rocket Park, have access to Public Simulators. This activity, transportation and lunch is FREE for students on free/reduced lunch and $25 for all others.
Sep 14 all-day Beyond the Front Porch
Join Beyond the Front Porch as we tour Zoo Atlanta that houses over 1,500 animals representing more than 220 species. The zoo is home to the nation’s largest zoological collections of gorillas and orangutans and is one of only four zoos in the U.S. currently housing giant pandas. This activity, transportation and lunch is FREE for students on free/reduced lunch and $25 for all others.
Oct 12 all-day Beyond the Front Porch
Join Beyond the Front Porch as we visit The Jimmy Carter Library and Museum in Atlanta, Georgia that houses U.S. President Jimmy Carter‘s papers and other material relating to the Carter administration and the Carter family’s life. The library also hosts special exhibits, such as Carter’s Nobel Peace Prize and a full-scale replica of the Oval Office, including a copy of the Resolute Desk. The building housing the library and museum makes up 69,750 square feet, with 15,269 square feet of space for exhibits and 19,818 square feet of archive and storage space. The library stacks house 27 million pages of documents; 500,000 photos, and 40,000 objects, along with films, videos, and audiotapes. These collections cover all areas of the Carter administration, from foreign and domestic policy to the personal lives of President and Mrs. Carter. Join Beyond the Front Porch as we honor our Veterans by learning more about the sacrifices of our Nations Infantry. We will have an immersive experience featuring over 230 years of Military History located in Columbus, GA just outside of Fort Benning. This 190,000 sq foot museum houses more than 70,000 military artifacts. We will have a professional guide lead us through this massive campus, while sharing with us interesting facts of the day in the life of a soldier and also enjoy an informative IMAX movie. This activity, transportation and lunch is FREE for students on free/reduced lunch and $25 for all others.
