Join Beyond the Front Porch as we tour Zoo Atlanta that houses over 1,500 animals representing more than 220 species. The zoo is home to the nation’s largest zoological collections of gorillas and orangutans and is one of only four zoos in the U.S. currently housing giant pandas. This activity, transportation and lunch is FREE for students on free/reduced lunch and $25 for all others.
Sep 14 @ 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm Hollis Street House of Hope
The Hollis Street Jamboree is September 14th from 1pm to 6pm at the Hollis Street House of Hope, 8304 Hollis Street in Douglasville. We will have bounce houses, a balloon twister artist, kids activities, a spades tournament, informational tables, music, and a cookout with grilled chicken. Please park in the  Simpson Mortuary parking lot.

Heroes Day + Touch-a-Truck Experience will feature equipment and vehicles from military, law enforcement, public safety, and community service agencies in addition to featuring booths from schools of the Douglas County School System in which the schools will promote and explain their programs, and possibly raise funds for the school.

The festival will feature representatives from area industries and businesses that could have jobs available!
Oct 12 all-day Beyond the Front Porch
Join Beyond the Front Porch as we visit The Jimmy Carter Library and Museum in Atlanta, Georgia that houses U.S. President Jimmy Carter‘s papers and other material relating to the Carter administration and the Carter family’s life. The library also hosts special exhibits, such as Carter’s Nobel Peace Prize and a full-scale replica of the Oval Office, including a copy of the Resolute Desk. The building housing the library and museum makes up 69,750 square feet, with 15,269 square feet of space for exhibits and 19,818 square feet of archive and storage space. The library stacks house 27 million pages of documents; 500,000 photos, and 40,000 objects, along with films, videos, and audiotapes. These collections cover all areas of the Carter administration, from foreign and domestic policy to the personal lives of President and Mrs. Carter. This activity, transportation and lunch is FREE for students on free/reduced lunch and $25 for all others.

The 5th annual Hunters Harvest Fall Festival and Arts & Craft show at Hunter Park will be held on October 19, 2019 from 12 pm-3 pm. This event will feature vendors from all over West Georgia and Metro ATL with various arts & crafts and food and beverage items. The festival will also include a children’s play zone featuring inflatables and other amenities for $5. Children 3 and under are free inside the play zone. This event is free and open to the public. Nov 9 all-day Beyond the Front Porch
Join Beyond the Front Porch as we honor our Veterans by learning more about the sacrifices of our Nations Infantry. We will have an immersive experience featuring over 230 years of Military History located in Columbus, GA just outside of Fort Benning. This 190,000 sq foot museum houses more than 70,000 military artifacts. We will have a professional guide lead us through this massive campus, while sharing with us interesting facts of the day in the life of a soldier and also enjoy an informative IMAX movie. This activity, transportation and lunch is FREE for students on free/reduced lunch and $25 for all others.
