Kaleidoscope is a salute to the arts featuring vocal, dance, and visual art performances from talented high school students in the Douglas County School System. The community is invited to this special evening of talent. The evening’s vocal talent will include an a capella performance, show choirs, and special selections from musicals. A visual art display will feature art in various mediums. Several colleges and universities will be onsite with information about their fine arts programs and admissions process.

Over 40 award-winning pieces of art from disabled artists across Georgia will be on display April 4 – 25 at the Georgia Artists with Disabilities, Inc.’s annual statewide tour and exhibit at the Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County. The opening reception will be hosted by the Douglas County Pilot Club on Thursday, April 4th, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Cultural Arts Council. Georgia Artists with Disabilities, Inc. was founded in 1985 by the Pilot Clubs of Metro Atlanta and is supported by Georgia District Pilot Clubs. The goal of the Pilot International Foundation is “full citizenship for people who are disabled.” The mission of Georgia Artists with Disabilities is to provide avenues through which Georgia artists with disabilities can display their artistic accomplishments in all disciplines of the arts and create public awareness of the artistic skills these artists have developed by overcoming the obstacles of their disabilities. Georgia Artists with Disabilities, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization. Cultural Arts Council Douglasville/ Douglas County is open Monday – Friday, 9 am – 5 pm. Free admission

Youth 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament @ Arbor Place Mall

We host 3 on 3, double elimination, basketball tournaments that take place at outdoor public areas. We cater to youth ages 8-18. Each team of 3-5 players’ battle through a series of double elimination rounds with the top teams in each division receiving trophies at the end of the day. The divisions are broken down by age (8-11, 12-14, & 15-18) the tournament is coed and we highly encourage girl participation. Each participant will receive a t-shirt, meal, and drink. The director and staff of the tournament have a passion for basketball and outdoor activities for youth. We promote physical fitness activities for youth. The tournament is FREE to all students ages 8-18. Please also pass the word to students and people that want to volunteer. Join Beyond the Front Porch as our students explore a 120,000 square foot museum located in Cartersville, Georgia, where guests are invited to See America’s Story through contemporary Western artwork, a Presidential Gallery, Civil War art gallery, and Sagebrush Ranch, an interactive children’s gallery. This Smithsonian Affiliate Institution has been open since August 2003, Booth Museum is the only museum of its kind in the Southeast and is the second largest art museum in the state of Georgia. Decorate your mailboxes, lampposts, gates, fences, trees, signs, and doorways in festive hydrangea blossoms, ribbons, and colors to welcome guests and festival attendees to our community! Keep Douglasville Beautiful will hold an Embellishment Contest that will judge the outstanding efforts, so be creative! Awards will be presented for the following categories: • Exceptional Design Award • Color Award • Creativity Award • Best Mailbox Award • Best Business Display Award • Spirit Award Entries should be submitted to Keep Douglasville Beautiful no later than Wednesday, May 27 at 11pm.
