Friends & Family Passport Day @ Atlanta Passport agency
Mar 8 @ 8:00 am – 2:00 pm
Friends & Family Passport Day @ Atlanta Passport agency | Atlanta | Georgia | United States
8:00 am
Friends & Family Passport Day on Thursday, March 8 The U.S. Department of State wants you to know that February and March are the best months to apply for or renew your passport. During these months processing times are lower, only 3-4 weeks for routine service and 2-3 weeks for expedite service. Expedite service costs an additional $60. In fiscal year 2017, the U.S. Department of State processed a record breaking 19.6 million passport applications and they anticipate those numbers will rise in 2018. If you wait to apply for your passport during peak summer months, it will take longer to get your passport. The Atlanta Passport Agency is hosting a Friends & Family Passport Day on Thursday, March 8, 2018. The event on Thursday is a convenient way to apply for children, apply for the first time, or renew your passport. U.S. passport holders who will have less than six months validity on their passports should consider renewing their passports now. Some foreign countries require up to 6 months of validity on your passport to enter. Day: Thursday, March 8, 2018 Time: 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Location: Atlanta Passport Agency 230 Peachtree Street N.W., 10th Floor Atlanta, GA 30303 Cost for First Time Applicants: $135 for adults $105 for minors under age 16 Cost for Renewal: $110 adults Expedite Processing Fee: $60 Payment: Credit card, personal check, exact cash (no change is given). Applicants will be seen on a first come, first serve basis and no appointment is necessary. For information on applying for a U.S. passport, forms, fees, and processing times, please visit Travel.State.Gov.

“Help Great Childhoods Happen” You are invited to “Join the Movement” to end child sexual abuse! As champions for prevention, we are excited to offer this important training at no cost for adults to join the movement in Douglas County to prevent, recognize and appropriately respond to child sexual abuse. April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. We believe that every child has the right to a happy, healthy, and safe childhood, and that protecting children is an adult responsibility. We also believe that education is critical for prevention efforts and that all successful initiatives start in the local community. Studies estimate that about 1 in 10 children experience child sexual abuse before they are 18. While this rate that is trending down due to adults like you who have learned to recognize the signs, respond appropriately and intervene when necessary, it is still alarming and shows we have work to do. Child sexual abuse has devastating and long-lasting consequences. Stewards of Children, an evidence based program, focuses on training adults in the warning signs of sexual abuse and in their responsibility to report these signs. Though the subject matter is grim, Stewards of Children presents the material in a way that is empowering, not fear-focused or discouraging. A compelling video, the core of the curriculum, includes the stories of several courageous survivors who were victims of sexual abuse as children and who have contributed a great deal of time and effort as adults toward ending the cycle of abuse. CEU’s are available as follows: • Social Workers/Professional Counselors – 2 hours • Law Enforcement-POST credits – 2 hours • Lawyers – 2 hours • Georgia Parks and Recreation –2 hours Please note that participants[...]
