Join us for “Bobick: Two Generations”, an exhibit celebrating a father and daughter with a creative lineage. Creativity isn’t grown in a vacuum. In some families, it keeps being nurtured through many branches of the tree. This exhibit will feature the creative talents of Bruce & Byrna Bobick. Opening reception Thursday, August 1st, 6-8 pm, hosted by Beyond the Front Porch. Free and open to the public. This exhibit will run August 1 – 29. This exhibit and reception will be running in tandem with A Tiny Fundraiser, our annual 6×6 show to benefit the CAC. That’s two exciting shows under the same roof. Exhibits at the CAC are a great way to encourage learning outside of the classroom for kids and adults during the summer break. Call today to schedule a guided gallery tour for your group or family. A Tiny Fundraiser returns to the Cultural Arts Council in July and August. In partnership with the CAC Satellite organization, The Douglas County Art Guild, each Thursday night the CAC will remain open till 7 pm with great refreshments, drinks, demos, and activities. Come enjoy the fun, relax, and get in touch with your creative side! Free admission & parking. The Douglas County Art Guild meets the first Tuesday of each month, at St. Julian’s Episcopal Church, 5400 Stewart Mill Rd., Douglasville, GA . The meetings begin at 6:30 pm with show and tell and refreshments, followed at 7 pm with a program and business meeting. Visitors are always welcome!

Join Beyond the Front Porch as we visit The Jimmy Carter Library and Museum in Atlanta, Georgia that houses U.S. President Jimmy Carter‘s papers and other material relating to the Carter administration and the Carter family’s life. The library also hosts special exhibits, such as Carter’s Nobel Peace Prize and a full-scale replica of the Oval Office, including a copy of the Resolute Desk. The building housing the library and museum makes up 69,750 square feet, with 15,269 square feet of space for exhibits and 19,818 square feet of archive and storage space. The library stacks house 27 million pages of documents; 500,000 photos, and 40,000 objects, along with films, videos, and audiotapes. These collections cover all areas of the Carter administration, from foreign and domestic policy to the personal lives of President and Mrs. Carter. This activity, transportation and lunch is FREE for students on free/reduced lunch and $25 for all others.

The 5th annual Hunters Harvest Fall Festival and Arts & Craft show at Hunter Park will be held on October 19, 2019 from 12 pm-3 pm. This event will feature vendors from all over West Georgia and Metro ATL with various arts & crafts and food and beverage items. The festival will also include a children’s play zone featuring inflatables and other amenities for $5. Children 3 and under are free inside the play zone. This event is free and open to the public. All proceeds will benefit the CAC and its programs throughout the year. Join us for the Children’s Halloween Costume Contest portion of the evening.
